Oscar winner and all-around hotness, Dustin Lance Black, has been barred from a sexually themed round-table discussion in Holland, Michigan, reports Holland Sentinel.
In an Advocate.com posting the Sentinel quotes Hope College Dean of Students’ Richard Frost as stating that “from past experience, strongly-opinionated speakers usually don’t further academic discussions about gay, lesbian or transgender issues!”
Mr. Frost goes on to add that “we are willing to do these things, but for the college to do this, we have to be sure it’s educational.. It’s back-and-forth and educational. It’s not advocacy.”
Unfortunately, no one asked him what “things” he was referring to exactly…
There are no words for this, cept to say that a college that “maintains a Christian atmosphere” is expected to have such an opinion on LGBT issues.
Coming from a Catholic upbringing – where the norm is pay-pray and obey – and having many a childhood Christian friend – all who’s parents were beyond fucked up, I am marveling at him having been invited at all!
