I don’t know sports but I do know Derek Jeter! He is the alpha male predating A-Rod’s tenure of a cafe con leche complexion.
And as the testosterone junkie that I am – cut me a break – I ventured over to the Joe Torre 7th Annual Safe at Home Foundation Gala at Pier Sixty in Chelsea Piers for a 1st hand glance of the NY Yankees’ MVP.
Now, I have little problem admitting that I would rather get a glimpse of Mr. Jock in his natural habitat – let’s say the locker room, or better yet the showers – but given my lack of credentials for the sporting arena (say nothing of the invite) I schlepped over to the Piers for a red-carpet look-see.
I got close enough to hear Jeter say that he has no problem lending his “celebrity to help raise awareness” to the cause even though he doesn’t “have first hand experience with it.” I personally had to look up what the cause was… It’s of the domestic abuse type.
Well Mr. Man, I will gladly volunteer to let you acquire some carnal man-handling abuse like experience with this…! (Don’t you judge my private affairs!)
