We recently heard a tale of Jeffrey Wright - one of favorite actors - returning to the stage in the Lincoln Center Theater’s production of “Free Man of Color,” and when we bumped into Mr. Handsome himself a few days ago near Columbus Circle, making a dash to the Beaumont Theater where the production is currently in previews, we quickly brought up the topic post greetings.
“Yes, I am. Running to the theater right now,” Wright told us. Well for once the rumors are true and we couldn’t be happier!
Now don’t go and judge us cuz we are late in learning of this tidbit. Sometimes things get past us as we are knee deep in red-carpets!
Wright takes the lead in the George C. Wolf directed turn of the century New Orleans set production. Wolf, you might recall was also the man behind Angels in America all those years back…
The show is said to take place “before class, racial and political lines were drawn. When New Orleans was still a parade of beautiful women and good-looking men, flowing wine and pleasure for the taking.”
Now how on earth could we not head that calling? Sign our asses up!
The show officially opens on November 18th.
