Broadway Cares: Celebrity PSA

TONY Nominee and Award Host Sean Hayes at the 64th Annual TONY Awards in NYC

We here at RTnM absolutely love the razzle dazzle of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.  No other org puts on a show – with more talented thespians, better than BCEFA.  Broadway Bares, Gypsy of the Year – et al.  Fabulous!  From Hugh Jackman, Kristin Chenoweth, T.R. Knight, Sean Hayes to Douglas Hodge, Carol Channing, Cherry Jones and Lin-Manuel Miranda – among many others – they all rally - year after year – right quick, in support of a non-profit  that for decades has done everything it possible can to help those stricken with HIV.

It doesn’t escape us that few orgs get the 110% show of support from a community like they do.  Whether stage veterans or guesting TV and Hollywood stars – they all give of their valuable free time – which ain’t all that much while performing 8x’s a week, to help get the message out.

Their annual fundraising collections drive – held at the end of every show, is presently underway and they have put together a PSA with a few folks you might recognize in the hopes of catching your attention.

Needless to say that we are all too happy to facilitate bringing it to you – just in case you haven’t come across it already.

Remember that the holidays aren’t always full for some and your help could greatly help those in need.  Merry Ho to you all.

Mel Gibson: The Beaver Trailer

Mel Gibson films The Beaver in the Bronx

Occassionally, not often, Hollywood goes and does something that shocks the fuck out of us.  Here is one for the records.  Mel Gibson, Anton Yelchin and Jodie Fosters’ flick “The Beaver,” is finally getting the light of day.

As proof – here is the trailer for the flick that filmed in various locales in NYC – including the Bronx, Westchester and Brooklyn.

I would have sworn on a testicle that this project was chucked off – as in written off – and scrapped as a loss, partially due to Gibson’s top-tiered gentile non-grata ranks within the chosen folk ranks.  But No!

Seems like the powers at be are willing to take the loss public and release the film anyway.

Wow.

Now, we here at RTnM ain’t judging Mad Max…  Not in the least.  The one time hotness and down under actor/director/producer has always been someone we have been willing to watch in just about anything – but we admit that his antics have made us raise an eyebrow or two…  on more than one occassion.

We wish Gibson all the best on this and any future projects and hope he’s put his demons to bed – with some good ass lube.

Jessica Alba: Little Fockers World Premiere

Robert DeNiro with his wife, Jessica Alba and Ben Stiller at the world premiere of Little Fockers

Ben Stiller broke a mold when he concocted his Fockers series.  In all likelihood he will continue these flicks for a good long ass while…  Assuredly there will be a Mother Fockers, Grand Fockers, Cross Fockers – well, you get the idea.  The latest installment comes in the form of “Little Fockers.”

The great cast he managed to pull together – consisting of Robert DeNiro, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo, Owen Wilson and Dustin Hoffman are all back (absent from the debut was Streisand,) and this time he has gone and thrown in a little ethnic flare with Jessica Alba and Kevin Hart who brought the Gucci to the night.

Stiller is nothing if not all-inclusive!

We have personally cackled at the mis-adventures so far to date and welcome another installment of goofs and slapstick.

Other notable attendees:  Natalie Gal, Cash Warren, Laura Dern, Eddie Redmayne, Olympian Tim Moorehouse, Jerry Stiller and director Paul Weitz.

Matt Damon: True Grit Premiere

Matt Damon and costar Hailee Steinfeld are all smiles at the True Grit NYC premiere

Matt Damon can do no wrong!  He is the perfect boy next door who happens to have kicked ass as that secret rogue mercinary known as Bourne – pick a flick.  He may have retired that long running role and, much to our chagrin, may never have revisited the Ripley stories – something we longed him to do, but all those transitions aside – he remains total hotness and an all around nice guy.

Have you figured out that we like ourselves some of the New England native?

Damon joined his co-stars Jeff Bridges, Hailee Steinfeld and Barry Pepper for a evening of “True Grit,” last night, much to the delight of the mile long looking gathered press line.

We must admit that – this being a Western flick – we are most curious to see Damon kick a totally different gun toting, horse riding, Stetson wearing ass in this here soon to be released Coen Brothers movie – which incidently has already garnered 11 Golden Globe nominations.

Alas, the 4th a-lister – Josh Brolin – was sadly absent from the testosterone heavy step-and-repeat, reportedly due to being under the weather.

Feel better sweets…

Other notable attendees:  Holly Hunter, Carla Gugino, Adrian Grenier, Jena Malone, Rudolph Giuliani, Natalie Gal, Padma Lakshmi, Bill Hader and Domhnall Gleeson.

Rose McGowan: Change Begins Within Benefit

Rose McGowan at the Change Begins Within benefit gala at The Met Museum

It is hard to argue with a statement the likes of Change Begins Within – incidently the name of David Lynch’s non-profit organization, which held their 2nd annual benefit gala at The Met Museum.  There is little that can counter the words forming that type of statement.  And When we caught the fair-skinned beauty Rose McGowan – in a pair of kick ass stilettos – the change could arguably be said to have started doing just that within us.

Even in the whipping cold, girl slowed her pace to make a bit of eye contact.

Thank you bella!

The same could be said for Frederique van der Wal, Denise Rich and Dr. Oz who was accompanied by his daughter.  Even the PETA protesters – touting anti-Donna Karan signs and a small video playing a looped rabbit defurring clip - seemed affected by the suggestive phrase the name of the org embodies.

Ed Norton, on the other hand, all but sprinted upon being spotted and asked for a quick photo.  Brother man never once looked, waved, nor seemed in the least bit struck by a handful of photogs braving the cold and sideways falling snow to attempt procuring a pic!

No, the pleas and calls of adoration did not soften his hard facade.

Wow!

We have little idea just how deep within Norton we would have to dig for some semblance of compassion to his fellow-man - where there isn’t a video camera filming his ass or a movie role being dangled in his face.

The stars of the night – Russell Brand and Katy Perry - garaged it, so we have little to say on that front…

But we retain the belief that true change does begin within – lord knows you can’t help no-one without 1st helping yourself to help others.

Happy holidays tidings to all.

The Ones: Celebrate Vandam

Suzanne Bartch & Amanda Lapore pose it up for RTnM at Vandam

To wrap up our weeklong visit with our good friends Angel & Francisco – hailing from Torremolinos (that’s in the South of Spain for all you geographically challenged folk,) we opted to go out with a bang by 1st stopping at G Bar, where we were confronted by a fabulous go-go dance named Ty - as we downed a few cocktails and then hightailing it to The One’s performance at Suzanne Bartch’s Vandam party at Greenhouse.

We don’t generally like to party like a rock star on a school night – you know it gets harder to bounce back y’all – but how could we not show our friends’  how hedonistic NY nightlife can really be?  That would hardly constitute a visit!

Say nothing of missing a live performance by our Flawless friends Nashom Wooden, Jo-Jo Americo & Paul Alexander – who collectively make up that fierce dance group The Ones – at the premiere stop on Sunday night?

It’s like the cosmos all pulled together for a grand time.

The trio performed their amazing new single “Celebrate,” and that couldn’t have been more appropriate on the 12th night of HoHoHO had George Michael been extended a Visa to fly his ass into NY and choreograph the number himself.

The Ones pulled up, qued their track and gave it to us like it was a fat 12 inch with a bow!  Luved it.

Also joining in on this weeks festivities was the one and only Ms. Amanda Lapore – the David LaChappelle muse who holds the secret to everlasting youth:  mood lighting!

Ms. Lapore - knowing how to identify a vantage point could be spotted holding court in far corner of the packed space groovin to Johnny Dynell’s tunes and she seemed to get the children all inspired.

How could she not?

We were also tickled to run cross another good ole friend and performer extra-ordinaire – Gary, looking like he’d just gotten out of a spa…  Bitch was all aglow…

As always, we hope you enjoy our few keepsakes which include this here video of the live performance - just do go and say we ain’t ever give y’all nothing.
