Michael Phelps: Fails to Take Olympic Medal

All eyes have been on Phelps and his team mate, Ryan Lochte, going into the London games.  But after Saturdays 1st race showdown it resulted with this not being a good Olympic 2012 start for the aqua man, weed smoking, non-too charming pseudo celebrity 27 yr old Michael Phelps. And this after barely qualifying for some of the competitions on the roster.

But perhaps Phelps’ achieved level of notoriety and celebu-tard status itself may be to blame and be proving too much for the golden boy.

The 1st of a series of competitions has resulted with the multi-Olympic gold medal winner of games past – 12 in all – concluding with his being shut-out – completely – of the 400 meter medley.  Not managing to place at any of the top three slots.

Phelps, in fact, finished a very distant fourth – with 2nd and 3rd placement going to Brazil’s Thiago Pereira and Japanese swimmer Kosuke Hagino, respectively.

Hagino is a ripe old age of 17.  And at ten years his senior – how the hell does Phelps compete, in earnest, with something younger and on the uptake when you have been resting on your laurels instead of hitting the training regiment, as he has been reported as doing in recent years…

Phelps is quoted as acknowledging his disappointment over his poor performance on Saturday, stating “I was trying to find a gear that I couldn’t find.”

Perhpas more like a gear you no longer strive for…  Not judging, simply making an observation is all.

“I have swum better races, and I have been better prepared. It was a very frustrating finish,” he added.

You think?

Put the pipe down Phelps!  And the drink and the attending Vegas fetes as well, while you are at it!  But perhaps it’s not all bad and a learning curve can be found in this globally televised embarrassment.  Maybe this will aid Phelps in being a bit more humble in the time to come.

We do send a congratulatory note to Lochte for his gold medal in the above mentioned meet!  And better concentration for the rest of Phelps time at this, his supposed last Olympics.
