There are some folks that we cannot deny being die hard admirers of… Angela Bassett and Forest Whitaker easily make the list. Without a doubt two of the most talented actors around. That’s fact. These two have joined forces – along with Jennifer Hudson and Jacob Latimore (not pictured) – to bring Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity classic to the big screen. The film is slated for a 2014 release and makes for a mandatory ‘save the date’ must see note. And perhaps it will arrive early enough for the x-mas end of the year season.
On a day off from working for the man, we took a chance and headed out to visit the set, on their first day of shooting, and try our hands at procuring some images for y’all.
Cuz y’all know it’s all about us getting for you.
And aren’t we glad we did so instead of sitting in front of our laptop trawling around or opting to head down to Sly Stallone’s premiere in midtown. Not that we have anything against the retro-throwback Rocky actor, it’s just that he’s not really that important to us. (Sorry Jason Mamoa.)
The icing on our cake happened to include having the opportunity of exchanging words with these two A-list performers to the tune of professing our undying admiration and the likes. (Don’t you dare judge!)
We are however still attempting to figure out Ms. Bassett’s politely phrased words… LOL.
“Will we be seeing you everyday,” Ms. Bassett asked, as she made her way to hair and makeup. “No,” we quickly replied. Adding that “we have a regular job that would keep that from happening, but we will try to stop by when time allows.”
“Oh, Ok,” Ms. Bassett replied.
We professed our love for her work and she gave us that beautiful smile of hers before going about her business; leaving us scratching our head trying to make out what undertone there was – if any – to our interaction. Like, for instance, was she trying to politely tell us to leave them the hell alone?
No matter, really. We love her. Total beauty queen. And it wasn’t like she was obligated to engage us whatsoever, so privileged we still feel.
