Bronx native and Latin Billboard nominee, singer Leslie Grace, teamed up with Gain Flings to unveil a community created public art project orchestrated by the non-profit org Portraits of Hope in an outreach effort in her native Bronx community, yesterday afternoon.
The 19-year-old Dominican Bachata singer posed with the product graciously, partook in completing artwork and attempted selfies while photogs captured a higher-rez moment.
But the true test of dedication arrived and, without a wince, girl took to her block-party style stage and braved the inclement weather – ala Diana Ross in Central Park circa the 1980’s – to debut her new song “Nadie Como Tu,” (Nobody Like You,) for an adoring horde of local residents. No pain – no Gain!
For those of you y’all not familiar with Latin women, their hair and inclement weather… Well, let’s just say you could get hurt trying to facilitate an outing in the rain with your average Latina.
We, for one, were in the throws of having a full-on Buckwheat moment.
Ms. Grace, however, did her middle name proud (her full name is Leslie Grace Martinez) and broke a mold in one felt swoop! How you ask? She paid the rain no-never mind and delivered a Scent-Sational performance for family and fans alike.
Kudos to her.
