Marion Cotillard: The Ladies at The Dark Knight Rises World Premiere

French Beauty and OSCAR winner Marion Cotillard attends The Dark Knight Rises world premiere in NYC.

The summer movie of 2012 that we all have been waiting for brought its world premiere to Gotham last night accompanied by a bevy of beauties.  The Dark Knight Rises leading ladies, OSCAR winner Marion Cotillard and the newest member of the feline on-screen species Anne Hathaway were joined by Junot Temple, Michelle Trachtenberg, cropped hair Bahamian Zoe Kravitz and Hailee Steinfeld on the black carpet which spanned a city block.

Let’s face it y’all, this Batman installment will by far blow all that have come before and after clear out of the waters.  ‘Spider who’ some will be saying…  And yes, we are fully on board!

It’s only fitting that this would mark the 1st stop for the film given the use of NY as its backdrop.

And for that we thank the powers that be!

As for rumors swirling on Hathaway’s alleged pregnancy…  She sure wasn’t showing any indication of such in her virginal white gown.

Target Bank: East Harlem Opening

Elizabeth Banks at the Target East Harlem store opening in NYC

Let me just start with stating that I love me some Target!  It is right up there with Costco, Nieman Marcus’ Last Call sales and Prada.  I simply luv that it is an all in one stop and it is spacious.

So when I heard that the Target East Harlem store was finally opening its doors with a celebrity carpet fete, I said lets head Uptown to my friends and East Harlem we were bound.  And we got free parking to boot!

Apparantly I wasn’t alone in the ‘Love the Red Dot’ sentiment.  The pilgrimage East was the move for hundreds!  Also in attendance:  Bethany Frankel – wearing a red Target bought dress, Kelly Rowland, Doug-E Fresh, Elizabeth Banks, Flaco Navajo, Joanna Garcia, Tyson Beckford, Selita Ebanks, Jerry & Jessica Seinfeld wearing Givenchy, Katrina Bowden, Marsha Thomason and Michelle Trachtenberg – who I like to affectionately refer to as Casper the Friendly Ghost!  That girl is as translucent as she is pretty.

Even the Target doggy was in tow…

Surprisingly, absent was Mayor Bloomberg.  I don’t rightly know how that is possibly given his penchant for all things business related.  Target opening a flagship location in Harlem is – for all tense and purposes – a big to-do.

Sex and The City 2: The Women

Kim Cattrall Evokes a 1920's Flapper-esque Look at The Sex and The City World Premiere in NYC

Sex and the City 2 – the sequel to that highly lucrative big screen adaptation spun from the majorly lucrative HBO show, created from the tales of one Candace Bushnell, hit New York City hard last night with its world premiere at Radio City Music Hall to wows and cheers from the gathered crowds.  And much like the posters for the May 27th release and guaranteed mega-blockbuster – it was all about the fashion!  The ladies of the night: Sarah Jessica Parker (in Valentino,) Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon proved – yet again – that its all in a day of gowns, accessories and of course – SHOES!

And their girlfriends took note from of their lead and delivered their own powerful accents to the half-block long carpet arrivals step-and-repeat clad with chandeliers.  Among those in attendance:  Alexandra Ambrossio, Ashanti, Vanessa Williams, Becki Newton, Bo Derek, Michelle Trachtenberg, Liza Minelli (finally in something other than basic black,) Jessica Szohr, Julissa Bermudez, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Britney Port, Gabourey Sidibe, Alice Eve and the fashion faux pas of the night:  Suzanne Somers.

Now, before you go asking why I bestow one time “Three’s Company” allum with such a mention – I have to point to the age inappropriateness of her attire.  At her age less is way more – case and point:  Bo Derek, who still looks ravishing and although dressed down her beauty but still shined.  Forever a 10!  (god bless her good doctors and all.)  And who the hell has ever looked good in a short cocktail ruffled dress?

Jessica Simpson: Good Housekeeping Fete

Jessica Simpson Attempts to Suck it in at Good Housekeeping's Shine On Celebration

A swarm of beauties descended on City Center for the Good Housekeeping “Shine On” celebration of 125 Years of Women Making Their Mark.  Among those in attendance:  a chubby Jessica Simpson – trying to suck it in while on the red carpet, radiant Anika Noni Rose, elegant Hilary Duff, acting chameleon Meryl Streep, translucent Michelle Trachtenberg, eternal beauty Cheryl Tiegs, stunning Marlee Matlin, thespian Laura Benanti and icons Marlo Thomas accompanied by husband Troy Donahue.  All gathered to – well, I don’t actually know what the hell the internal program consisted of to be honest, cept that they were to enjoy a performance by the queen of soul herself – Aretha Franklin!

I’m all about celebrating the power of the opposite gender – especially when in stilettos!  So my coverage was a given.

Next stop?  A woman in The White House!

Leighton Meester: American Outfitters

Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester pulled hosting duties at the American Outfitters opening in Times Square a few days ago. She also performed her “Somebody to Love” track for the massive crowd which included guests: Michelle Trachtenberg, Eric Mabius and Adrian Grenier.

From what I was told from the inside, her performance matched her carpet outfit (she changed for the performance) and smeared on looking makeup – lackluster at best.

In her mind however, I am sure it was a dollar earned and a mile-stone achieved if only ala Britney Spears. Stick to the studio, sweetie!

Fashion Victims!

Yet another Mercedes-Benz NY Fashion Week rolls through our quiet little streets, besieging its dutiful drones with 20 minute catwalk storyboards. A week filled with half hour delays, ambivalent celebrities crying “I don’t understand what the excitement is about,” (Really Leighton! Stop….) and enough stilettos to cause podiatrist near and far to break into song and dance. And all for the sake of getting a heads up on what esthetic we ought to aspire to six months from now…

Being the victim that I am (therapy isn’t helping,) I skipped a day at the beach to document aforementioned celebs and make note of what is (or will be) in Vogue (work it out, Anna!).

Amidst such beauties the likes of Zoe Saldana, Uma Thurman (girl, you are going to hurt yourself running like that), Rosario Dawson (whose nipples were on full alert) and Michelle Trachtenberg (who’s PR couldn’t find her car parked in front of them) I was perfectly positioned to observe and learn.

And heres what I can share with you: Stripper shoes are all the rave & no longer for working the pole! That those same stripper shoes can be coupled with a baby doll with great results (don’t bend over, Eva!), and that even in 85 degree heat you must project to the photos publication date and adorn season appropriate accoutrement to appear to be in the moment. Thank you J.Lo – but I’m sure you were schfitzing up a storm from this practice… And really would it have bankrupted you to stop and pose for a pic before fabricating the drama only you know how to execute!
