Anita Baker: Lately Single on ITunes

- Anita Baker plays to a sold out concert at Radio City Music Hall July 26, 2007.
We have been waiting a good while for our childhood songstress Anita Baker to come out with some new tunes. For real y’all, we love her madly but at this point we can sing her tunes backwards. Okay, maybe that’s a stretch, but y’all know what we mean – dammit. Lo and behold the rapturous wonder releases Lately single – available on ITunes
We must say that we were expecting a WHOLE new album – as in 8 to 10 new tracks – but we ain’t going to bitch too heavily cuz its good to hear her smooth melodies once more.
Back in 07, we dutifully charged tix to her sold out post-Fourth of July concert at Radio City Music Hall and proceeded to wait on her exit after the show for some additional photos.
She made us wait a bit but sure enough she made her way out after sometime and we snapped away and quickly asked her when a new album was due…? ”Child, I don’t know,” Ms. Baker responded as she and her sister were about to get into her awaiting car – and we got our pix to prove it.
We reckon back some almost 6 years, Baker really didn’t know and was telling us the truth.
“I can’t imagine life, without you baby by my side,” Baker sings, in the opening of her new tune. And we feel exactly the same.
Here’s to hoping that that much mentioned new works, speculated about online, is short to follow.
We’ve missed you terribly Ms. Baker!

George Michael: White Light Single On Horizon

George Michael releases new track titled White Light
He’s Back! Wham alum George Michael has released his new track White Light. And the chorus sings Hallelujah. The official release date isn’t until July 17th but there are already a slew of remixes already floating around online and word is the single has been released to radio.
Give a listen to and find your own significance within Michael’s lyrics which, for us, is clearly about his own dark days and surviving what seemed like a never-ending downward low point that culminated with the icon serving time in a London jail. Our own personal take on the songs message, which juxtaposes Michael and Amy Winehouse’s untimely demise, is simply about his coming through it all and, as the song declares, he is still here.
We couldn’t be happier for the 49 year old Greek turned Brit. And in fabulous retro fashion, Michael’s video will feature the last of the super models – Kate Moss. Now we just need to work on getting him cleared to tour in the USA!
Madonna: Give Me All Your Love Single Leak

Madonna set to open Hard Candy Fitness across the globe
Madonna has a new single y’all. And its somehow hit the web-sphere. The single, titled “Give Me All Your Love”, is presently being circulated online worldwide. Did you expect anything less? Silly you!
Unfortunately, it isn’t something to yell from the roof tops. And there is no remix, as yet.
Critics have already referred to it as a throwback to her 80′s sound.
We disagree entirely.
It’s an attempt at regression is all. Because her debut album, all them years back, was (and still is) revolutionary.
This track is far from that. But we are sure a DJ somewhere will bootleg it right quick and the track will command the dance floor. No doubt!
Sade: Soldier of Love Track
Posted by Native NYker in music video, new music, sade on January 11, 2010
There are few entertainers that I love. Sade tops this list. She is my Beatles. Full stop!
Her new CD “Soldier of Love” drops on February 9th – less than a month away, but the title track is out! I have all but forgotten how many years it’s been since her last CD cuz she is as beautiful as ever and sounds A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It’s like no time has passed at all.
Pardon me a moment while I try to get my hyperventilating under control…
So now that I have my tears of joy somewhat under control – and have caught my breath a bit, I am overjoyed to share this video with y’all - I’ve watched it a dozen times already! Brilliant!
Welcome back Beauty Queen!

Sade: Soldier of Love

My buddy over at HitDanBack brought Sade’s new CD “Soldier of Love” to my attention a bit ago and I am forever greatful! I LOVE THIS WOMAN. Stop. Breathe. Continue.
She has been my constant companion – from California to Paris to Rome, London to Barcelona and SoBe to the Carribean – always by my side, never left behind. Is It a Crime?
Of course I have been jonesing to post about the LONG awaited new material. For real, I one time spent hours trying to get someone at her label on the fone to ask about her wherebouts – unsuccessfully I might add. Did I mention how much I love her? Seriously, I was starting to think that the grey dull of life would never abate, leaving me the King of Sorrow.
And so having found my own pics from her last tour stop at MSG – YES, I did attend, I can now declare how much I love her and rave about her new CD which arrives on February 8, 2010! Just in time for Valentine’s Day. I could pas out from this…
Now all I have to do is find someone to shag with to her new music!

Spandau Ballet Comeback

Not everything that came out in the 80′s was bad. The musical acts rocked, if only – for some – for a short time.
BBC Entertainment has just announced their imminent comeback! And they will be bringing back their hits along with some new material. “Obviously there’ll be all the hits, the nostalgia, but there will also be a new take on what Spandau Ballet are about,” Tony Hadley said at their press conference in London.
Depeche Mode: Wrong

This songs plays out like the story of my life! Aptly titled “Wrong.” And much like I feel, at times, the video plays out backwards. It will make for a killer remix!

Norton Pulls a Spears

My friend Judy brings home a copy of Bazaar – that weights like three lbs – just to show me a picture of Ed Norton appearing in a new Breil Milano advertisement. He recently landed the poster boy campaign and is slated to reign until 2010.
We all know Brit-Brit reigns in the being photoshopped kingdom. Her latest album cover for “Circus” is testament and reminder of that title… But it seems Eddy is looking to rise to her side and rule as her counterpart… They even gave him cheekbones!
