Pedro Almodovar: I’m So Excited Trailer

descendantspedroalmodovarThere are few directors out there that can do camp like Spain’s Pedro Almodovar.  Es la pura verdad.  Get a glimpse of Almodovar’s new flick titled “I’m So Excited.”

The teaser looks to be fueled by sexual overtones and gay glee.

It may not be OSCAR material but, in our humble opinion, this looks, to us, as if this will be a laugh from start to finish for the man responsible for the meteoric rise of Spanish cross-over Hollywood fixtures like Penelope Cruz, Antonio Banderas and Hugo Silva – who also star in the film.

Expect a 2013 installment to a art theater near you.

RTnMs Oscar Picks

Pedro Almodovar and Penelope Cruz at the "Broken Embraces" NY Premiere

Its that time of the year again.  Can you believe it’s February, 2010 already?  Time waits on no-one.  But with Botox on my horizon and the promise of Spring around the bend, I trudge forward (from the warmness of my apt.!)

And while I’m at it, here is a list of the relevant nominations for this years OSCAR’s, taking place on March 7th.  My picks are noted in RED.  And the Academy should please note how easily this long ass boring show could be edited down to what the public considers important!  Let’s face it, there are some catergories that we just simply don’t care about!  And since we are bitching – isn’t it bizarre how Almodovar isn’t nominated in the Best Foreign Film category or Tom Ford for Best Director???  These omissions are simply R-U-D-E!

Almodovar and Cruz: Broken Embraces

The Lincoln Center Film Society’s NYFF arrived at its closing night with a premiere of Pedro Almodovar’s “Broken Embraces.”
The film stars one of Almodovar’s muses and rumored fiance of hotness Javier Bardem – Penelope Cruz, in a black a-symmetrical jacket and gray shimmery dress.
Much is said of Cruz’s beauty and its something that escapes me for the most part. But I must admit that she did have a certain shine to her last night on the short red carpet amidst the Lincoln Center revamped Alice Tully Hall complex. Must have something to do with the millions of $ that went into reworking the structure.
I would also venture to say that I was pleased to have had a stop and repeat with the likes of Cruz, Almodovar and Salma Hayek – who arrived so late to the event more than two/thirds of the press line had vacated – including myself, and this largely due to the inept minds handling the event who stated the event was done.
Of course, this wasn’t the publicity teams 1st event fuck up. It marked their 3rd screwed event – not that they appeared to give a rats ass about it, so it came as little a shock. Tres Incompetent!
The film opens in limited release on November 20th and wide release in December – no doubt in time for Oscar consideration…

Nine Trailer

Nine is coming my way!

No, I don’t mean inches… lord knows thats harder to get your hands on than, well, eight inches!

I mean the screen adaptation of the famed musical that starred Antonio Banderas on the Broadway stage.

The Rob Marshall big screen adaptation stars chameleon Daniel Day Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz (don’t get me started!) and French Oscar winner – Marion Cotillard, here pictured at the Costume Institute Gala! (Thanks Popbytes for bringing it to my attention!)

This looks to be as promising as Chicago!

Cruz Control

Penelope Cruz went the smart route when leaving a hotel party in LA and had her big ass suv pull up the driveway so she could mount the behemoth undisturbed.

This grand dive action was before her Oscar win for the Allen flick “Vicky, Christina, Barcelona.”

I don’t quite understand, till this date, what the big to do was about both the film and her performance. I swear that story line has been done on screen before.

Her action managed to keep her from being attacked by the horde of pap-pers but not the truck, which was swarmed over and sheathed like it was covered with those killer bees you see on Animal Planet when you get to close to their nest.

The ironic part is that Ms. Cruz, in all the flashing lights, could be seen inside the vehicle smiling and laughing at the results of her slow moving car.

Had she cracked the window I might have asked her where was Javier, who was no-where to be seen.

Cruz Takes Gotham

Penelope Cruz continues her reign as one of the most celebrated Latin cross-overs, present day.

I’ve little clue why that is but what do I know about questioning the root of desire.

What I do know is that the current love of my future ex-husband’s life – Javier Bardem, arrived at the 2008 Gotham Independent Film Awards, held in the bowel of Manhattan, last night sans her compatriot amor but was ever the gracious beauty, nevertheless.

It is nice to see an independent woman heading out on her own.

Cruz attended this years festivities in support of her Woody Allen nominated film “Vicki Christina Barcelona”.

Gracias belleza! Viva Espana.
