The Amazing Spider-Man’s Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone take part in the Be Amazing initiative in Brooklyn, NY
“The Amazing Spider-Man’s” Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifan, Dennis Leary and director Marc Webb stopped by the housing projects in Brooklyn, NY yesterday afternoon to take part in the Be Amazing, Stand Up & Volunteer initiative, held at the Farragut Houses & Madison Boys and Girls Club.
Good stuff.
We are all for celebrities lending their support and patting folks on the back who are deep in the trenches doing their community for the better!
The event touted the cast joining over 200 volunteers who have generously given their time and energy to plant community gardens and put together a Be Amazing mural for the community, at the hands of said community members.
The problem is – as it often is the case with such a large group of people – that when you throw together a local community, who jumped in without the attention of a celebrity focus, and throw in publicists, celebrities, media, and a promotional blitz for a large Hollywood film of a Spider-Man magnitude, and aim for publicity – not only for said film but for a community in need of their support, the general flow of an otherwise basic moment often gets disrupted and the message gets diluted for lack of orchestration and foresight.
No one to blame really, it just does.
We recall the words of a teacher many years back often telling us that the more involved, the more planning it required. Words of wisdom we’d say.
We don’t suggest that the gesture by the likes of such A-lister’s is disingenuous… Not at all. Just ill timed as handlers are out to maximize and keep to scheduling. This however often ends resembling a Kardashian contracted paid attendance. Well intended but missing the mark.
The above mentioned cast members arrived and the two (of three) scheduled photo-ops went to shit quicker than one could spell it out. And that after a few attempted to voice the impending cluster.
And when the 1st photo-op dissolved into a bevy of individuals that no one believed could be useful the 2nd of three fast started to resemble the 1st. Protest voiced during the orchestration went unregistered and the mood of the attending media quickly plummeted beyond salvation with it all coming to an abrupt end before anyone could double back to a resolution.
“We’re done!” voiced one frustrated organizer to the lament of the press line voicing woes of a wasted commute out to the borough.
The lack of seeming cooperation by the films leads didn’t lend any support to the matter at hand either…
Stone kept looking down and away from photogs while Garfield kept looking for his sweetheart Stone. And what little time they looked in the direction of the horde of awaiting paps was dismal or obstructed in one fashion or another.
But they did distribute t-shirts touting both the film and the volunteer initiative! So we couldn’t possibly bitch too much.
Andrew Garfield: Spiderman Stills Released

We live by the words we often spew on this topic. ‘Never under-estimate skinny guys!’ They may look thin but they can, more often than not, be packing something impressive. Case and point: Andrew Garfield, the new face of Spiderman. Sony Pictures just released these to some mag and we are still wiping our chins from them… The 27 yr old is tight!
Of course the rumors of a hook-up between Garfield and his co-star Emma Stone abound. And they are likely true. Wouldn’t you? We would!
We had the pleasure of stopping by the set of the NYC shoots and catching a glimpse of the new web wonder and felt ourselves giddy at the sight. He is a bit dreamy looking. Rhys Ifans – the films villain – not so much really.
Don’t know about y’all but we think this is a vast improvement over whats his name that came before him. (Out of sight out of mind!)
We leave you with a few more images, including the suit pic and some pap material to conclude your thoughts on the matter.
For us it’s a definite must see.
Andrew Garfield: On Set of The Amazing Spiderman

It is public knowledge that we have a weak spot for tall lanky figures. Andrew Garfield, of “The Social Network” fame and presently at the helm of the new creepy crawler flick “The Amazing Spiderman,” fits into this preference completely. So when we got word that Garfield would be camping out his trailer on Central Park West, a few days ago, we bolted for a chance at getting a few frames of the new face for the successful franchise previously held by Toby Maguire.
We didn’t have to wait long – not really. And Garfield’s appearance was preceeded by co-star Rhys Ifans – you may recall him as the annoying roomate in “Notting Hill” - and Annie Parisse.
Oddly enough, it was Ifans’ who attempted to play “star” with the paps. Silly rabbit! You should be paying them for giving you any attention at all.
We later came across Parisse in the midst of an interview and once she finished, she ever so politely agreed to give us a few photos.
Much obliged bella.
