Over at the Peabody Awards, held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, the celebrity mood celebrated overall diversity in a multitude of areas – recognizing the folks of Fox’s “Glee” and ABC’s “Modern Family,” two shows that incorporate all issues non-pc. And of course we were happy to jump into the mix!
We (and by that I mean me!) don’t watch a whole lot of the telly but these two shows happen to be programming that we are happy to make exceptions to that general rule. (Never say never!)
Who the hell wouldn’t tune in to watch “Married with Children’s” Ed O’Neill play opposite the Latin beauty Sofia Vergara? That coupling shouts funny. Throw in the gay overtones of Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet’s domestic cohabitation to the general overall disfunctional family lives depicted in the show – which include Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen and Rico Rodriguez, and the result are a riot. Ok, so it may or may not mirror the realistic home lives of our own but what the hell is wrong with that – laugh at yourself and you can laugh at everyone else is our general feeling on that!
And what Modern Family doesn’t have “Glee” happily supplies. Of course we mean hotness, music, drama, dance, rivalry and Broadway bound stars in the making!
What can we say? It’s all about the drama of wanna be stage stars! You know we are all about a 5-6-7-8!
Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison and Jessalyn Gelsig happily attended as their show’s handsome creator - Ryan Murphy, collected their due statue. (Give us a call Mr. Muprhy! Let’s do a lunch date and I may let you do more than peep…)
Other notable attendees and recipients: the beautiful Anika Noni Rose, hotness Mayor Cory Booker (come and lay down your law at will Mr.) and the multi-talented Forest Whitaker.
A swarm of beauties descended on City Center for the Good Housekeeping “Shine On” celebration of 125 Years of Women Making Their Mark. Among those in attendance: a chubby Jessica Simpson – trying to suck it in while on the red carpet, radiant Anika Noni Rose, elegant Hilary Duff, acting chameleon Meryl Streep, translucent Michelle Trachtenberg, eternal beauty Cheryl Tiegs, stunning Marlee Matlin, thespian Laura Benanti and icons Marlo Thomas accompanied by husband Troy Donahue. All gathered to – well, I don’t actually know what the hell the internal program consisted of to be honest, cept that they were to enjoy a performance by the queen of soul herself – Aretha Franklin!
I’m all about celebrating the power of the opposite gender – especially when in stilettos! So my coverage was a given.
Next stop? A woman in The White House!
