Iman

‘Black don’t crack,’ a wise friend once shared with us.  We laughed at the time.  But through the years ignorance on the statement has given way to becoming fully aware that his words are as real as if they were set in stone!  Case and point:  Iman celebrates her 57th birthday today.  And damn if there is a crack anywhere to be found on that fashion icons mug.

We have been mesmerized by her beauty since we were young’ens.  Long before the likes of Tyra Banks and Naomi, there was Iman!  Featured not only on the covers of magazines like Vogue and so on the world over but touted as the muse to the likes of YSL, Halston and Versace.  A pioneer who sashayed on the runways of countless designers’ bi-annual presentations profiled on CNN’s Style with Elsa Klensch.

Don’t you dare judge, it is how we were introduced to the world of fashion as a toddler while our friends where hanging outside looking to another player for a game of hide-and-go-seek or Frisbee or touch football (that one we liked plenty!)

So on this day we wish the innovator and diva the happiest of birthdays!  And many more.
