Ryan Gosling: I’ve Lost Perspective on What I’m Doing

“The more opportunities I’m given, the more I learn about how easy it is to fuck it up,” Ryan Gosling tells AP when questioned about his impending hiatus from the big screen.  ”You fight for freedom and then you get it, and then you have enough rope to hang yourself. It’s like trying to exercise some restraint because I do have so much freedom,” he goes on to say. Read the rest of this entry »

Eva Mendes: Last Night Premiere

Eva Mendes premieres "Last Night" during the TFF Festival

We looked on our desktop and realized we totally missed putting up our TFF coverage of the “Last Night” premiere.  This omission may have something to do with our having seen a screener copy of the flick already.  Let’s just say we were less than impressed with Kiera Knightley’s performance.  It’s as if she phoned it in.  And although Guillame Canet serves up the sexual allure the French are known to exude, the chemistry between him and Knightley was tepid – at best.  Even Knightley’s smile seemed forced.  On the flip side, we can earnestly say that Cuban bombshell Eva Mendes truly delivers the goods.  Girl can work some sex appeal seemingly effortlessly.  And her seduction of Sam Worthington’s character is totally official.

We were truly tickled that Mendes wore red to the premiere.  It’s always refreshing to have color for step-and-repeat photo opt.  Muchas gracias bella!

And the red stood out even more given that absent from the films stars were Knightley, Worthington and Canet.   Perhaps it had something to do with their performances scheduling conflicts.

Notable attendees:  The Brady Bunch’s Eve Plum, Massy Tadjedin, Elettra Wiedeman, Nina Dobrev, Hilary Rhoda, Nora Zehetner, Stephanie Romanov and some hottie in a leather jacket.

The Other Guys: World Premiere

Eva Mendes and Mark Wahlberg at The Other Guys World Premiere in NYC

“The Other Guys’” world premiere took place in NYC last night.  And the step-and-repeat seemed to go on for a lifetime – even with some cast members missing.

We rarely get THE premiere here in gotham – sometimes we get overlooked entirely.  Salt for instance!  So this truly was a big to do.

Eva Mendes rocked a grey cocktail dress and black stilettos – the bow was diviine girl!, while her costars Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and Ray Stevenson looked all so handsome.

But it was Ray Stevenson who caught my attention.  Why, you may ask?  Well you might recall him from the HBO “Rome” series.  He played that kickass alpha-male with a heart of gold.  On the carpet he exuded testosterone and I was giddywith excitement.  I swear I wanted to leap into his arms and find myself protected and manhandled!  (Don’t you judge now…)

Also in attendance were the yummy Bobby Cannavale, Steve Coogan, Damon Wayans Jr. and Mr. Samuel L. Jackson – who I happened to spot at Jones Beach a few weeks ago sporting a Speedo.  No, I didn’t have time to snap a photo.  The camera is not attached to a limb I tell y’all!

Other notable attendees:  Brooke Shields, Lindsay Sloan, Jimmy Fallon, Rob Thomas, Zoe Lister Jones – wearing what can only be described as a “American Pie faux-pas – and Tess Kartel.

Met Gala Wrap UP

Zoe Saldana at The Met Gala Annual Fete 2010

I am finally wrapping up my Met Gala Costume Institute photo roundup.  And as such I am giving you all the heavy hitters of the red carpet.

Beauties: Zoe Saldana (who would not let me take a photo of her arriving at her hotel a few nights before the event,) Emmy Rossum, Emma Watson, Eva Mendes, Gwen Stefani, Demi Moore, Matthew Morrsion, Jude Law, Hugh Dancy, Sienna Miller (getting that photo was work I tell you, ) Kate Hudson, Kerry Washington, Kirsten Dunst, Oprah and Rachel Weisz – to name a few!  (Damn, my carpel tunnel just flared!)

It is great to have this event behind us and not have to think about it for another year.  I said it before and it bares repeating – although a fab event, it is way too much of a good thing!  Covering this annual momentus soiree should come with a holiday on some white sandy beach!

A big thank you to the The Met Museum for extending us coverage and to Anna Wintour’s genius!
