We have repeatedly posted our deeply rooted love for Alexander Skarsgard. It is everlasting. So when we got wind of his Disconnect film screening at SVA Theater we couldn’t pass up the opportunity of laying our eyes on the lick-able specimen in dapper dress.
Lord help us.
There are things we’d like to do to him that we aren’t sure are legal even in Amsterdam. But we will leave what those things are to your own imagination… We have enough to contend with. Read the rest of this entry »
Sarah Jessica Parker: Tower Heist Family Movie Night

Sarah Jessica Parker joins hubby Matthew Broderick for the world premiere his new flick "Tower Heist."
Sarah Jessica Parker joined her husband Matthew Broderick and son for the Tower Heist world premiere last night in NYC. The event topped off by members of the stellar comedic cast, including Gabourey Sidibe, Eddie Murphy, Tea Leoni, Ben Stiller and Casey Affleck.
We gush about Sidibe – time and time again. What can we say, we like her. We are very thrilled that her return to the big screen is with a big budget sure-fire hit comedy! Cuz lets face it, it’s Eddie and Stiller. They have all the bases covered.
We are also tickled to see Leoni back on the screen. She’s been sorely missed.
Alas, there was no Duchovny on the step and repeat – and this got whispers going – again. Not that there is shock in idle minds being dumbasses.
Other notable attendees: Melania Knauss-Trump with her comb-over husband, Serena Williams (Murphy’s date,) director Brett Ratner, Paz de la Vega, Judd Hirsch, Doutzen Kroes, Alan Alda, Sean Combs, Ariel Schulman, Tracy Morgan on a broken foot and an “up and coming” actress carrying the cutest puppy EVER!
Gabourey Sidibe: Paranormal Activity Super Fans Screening

Gabourey Sidibe joins Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman at the Paranormal Activity III Super Fan Screening in NYC
One of our favorite people ever, Gabourey Sidibe, joined two dashing handsome NYkers - Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost – for an advance Super Fan screening of their new scary flick ”Paranormal Activity III” last night in NYC . The trio were also joined by Greta Gerwig (Arthur), Ronnie Magro (Jersey Shore), Josh Hamilton, Kim Bubbs and Chaske Spencer (Twighlight) in thanking a horde of fans who went ballistic with their responses to win a spot in line for the Gotham event that was simultaneously performed globally!
We kid you not! The line around the Regal Union Square wrapped around the entire block – and then some.
Scary shit.
And when we were making a fast getaway – post step-and-repeat – there were still a horde of folks clambering to get in outside.
We quickened our step a bit as it looked like the screening was seriously overbooked and with protesters and demonstrators taking over NYC we didn’t wish to be caught in any mayhem with so much glass to shatter!
Now it just so happens that we are fans of the genre but, as we’ve gotten older, we will have to wait for the DVD as we have reached a point of not being able to watch scary flicks at night! For real y’all, it freaks us OUT…
We can’t even do it at home as we start hearing shit creaking and moving around. But from the looks of things this instalment will be yet another hit to the franchise so it won’t need our revenue to go thru the roof.
Congrats guys!
Sex and The City 2: The Women

Sex and the City 2 – the sequel to that highly lucrative big screen adaptation spun from the majorly lucrative HBO show, created from the tales of one Candace Bushnell, hit New York City hard last night with its world premiere at Radio City Music Hall to wows and cheers from the gathered crowds. And much like the posters for the May 27th release and guaranteed mega-blockbuster – it was all about the fashion! The ladies of the night: Sarah Jessica Parker (in Valentino,) Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon proved – yet again – that its all in a day of gowns, accessories and of course – SHOES!
And their girlfriends took note from of their lead and delivered their own powerful accents to the half-block long carpet arrivals step-and-repeat clad with chandeliers. Among those in attendance: Alexandra Ambrossio, Ashanti, Vanessa Williams, Becki Newton, Bo Derek, Michelle Trachtenberg, Liza Minelli (finally in something other than basic black,) Jessica Szohr, Julissa Bermudez, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Britney Port, Gabourey Sidibe, Alice Eve and the fashion faux pas of the night: Suzanne Somers.
Now, before you go asking why I bestow one time “Three’s Company” allum with such a mention – I have to point to the age inappropriateness of her attire. At her age less is way more – case and point: Bo Derek, who still looks ravishing and although dressed down her beauty but still shined. Forever a 10! (god bless her good doctors and all.) And who the hell has ever looked good in a short cocktail ruffled dress?
Gabby Sidibe: Not in Vogue!
Posted by Native NYker in anna wintour, gabourey sidibe, vogue magazine on March 25, 2010
According to PopEater’s Naughty but Nice’s Rob Shuter, Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe has been deemed to large for the pages of Anna Wintour’s Vogue.
I have to say that a part of me is a little bit outraged over this tidbit… Especially after reading the quotes.
“She’s a joke in the fashion community. What she wore on the red carpet at the Academy Awards wasn’t a dress, it was a tent,” Shuter quotes one fashionista as stating.
Rude? Fuck yeah.
“Vogue is [a] venue where designers debut their best new pieces. All of which are one of a kind and sample size. It would be impossible to get a regular-sized girl in those clothes, let alone Gabby,” another source is quoted as diplomatically stating.
Stupid excuse? Just a bit…
But as outraged as I am over this insulting and harsch position, I have to say that I don’t ever recall Vogue ever being about or for the average woman. It is more of an antiquated idealist take on what fashion can be.
True that I – being one of Wintour’s most ardent admirers – would expect more from the woman at the helm of the most recognizable publications (if little read by the average blue collar JC Penney shopping stiff,) but she is the woman who inspired a best selling book and film. Not that this excuses her from breaking out the whip at one of her dumbasses making such statements.
I only wish I could be present to hear someone actually state such spiteful and hateful statements. This size 8 (yes, I fit into a woman’s size 8!) would have a few choice words to throw back…
Character Approved: Gyllenhaal and Sidibe

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Gabourey Sidibe Make Quick Friends at the USA Network & Vanity Fair "Character Approved" Party
A svelt Maggie Gyllenhaal and “Precious” star – Gabourey Sidibe braved a cold and wet night to attend the USA Network & Vanity Fair “Character Approved” cocktail reception last night at the IAC Building in the heart of Chelsea.
Undoubtedly the hightlight of events scheduled in Gotham.
And not a bad way to spend an evening as the few hundred guests and a slew of the networks stars warmed up to the tune of flowing Cliquot champagne and yummy finger food!
But my ass was to busy circumventing an endless list of names to have shimmied over to the bar to commandeer my own bottle and hide out for my own circulatory benefit. Go figure…
Question: Has Vanity Fair been forgiven for having snubbed Sidibe from its “Young in Hollywood” issue? Not judging, simply making an observation.
