Russell Brand: Arthur Cast in NYC

Russell Brand and the cast of “Arthur,” which includes Jennifer Garner, Dame Helen Mirren, Geraldine James, Luis Guzman and Greta Gerwig, all descended on NYC last night for the premiere of the 80′s remake of a classic which starred Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli.
Brand appears to have infiltrated the American Hollywood scene at a good moment in his career as there isn’t another actor around that could likely tackle this role with as much insight and natural instinct as he can bring to the table. We are told there isn’t an alcoholic issue in this version.
Hmmmm…. No “Get Him to The Greek” sprinkle in this flick kids!
The finished product will tell the tale when the film opens on April 8th.
But if the trailer has anything to say, the large dose of British humor and tonality will set this version aside from the original entirely – all they will share is essentially a name & the $$$ inheritance issue.
And lets face up to it – Brand can hold his own with the quips and one liners. The scene where he spars with Mirren is brilliant!
Andrew Garfield: Social National Board of Review Network

Kevin Spacey, Armie Hammer, Andrew Garfield and Jesse Eisenberg of The Social Network at the National Board of Review awards gala
The annual Nationl Board of Review of Motion Pictures Awards Gala is to the kick-off of the accolades season as the phrase “I’d like to thank [fill in the blank] is to the acceptance speech! It preceeds that West Coast broohaha – more often than not setting the stage for what acceptance speeches will be heard down the road.
Yes, we know that the People’s Choice now happens earlier but that’s fan based – dammit! It’s so not the same.
This year NBR hosted the likes of the cast members of that facebook flick “The Social Network” – Jesse Eisenberg, Armie Hammer, producer Kevin Spacey and the new Spiderman – Andrew Garfield, joined by “The Fighter’s” Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg along with Michelle Williams, Alessandro Novila, Emily Mortimer, “True Grits’” Hailee Steinfeld, “The Town’s” Blake Lively and Ben Affleck, Jessica Lange and Special Filmmaking Achievement Award winner Sofia Coppola.
But it was the surprise attendance of Jennifer Garner that got all tongues wagging at an evening already full of glamour, gratitude and star power – all ready to speak of their genuine appreciation for being acknowledged in the grandeur afforded by Cipriani 42nd Street.
And for once, the inclement weather held off until the arrivals portion of the event was done.
And for that, we are truly greatful!
Jennifer Garner: Arthur Film Set
Posted by Native NYker in arthur film set, jenifer garner on July 29, 2010
Jennifer Garner is pretty. That she pretended to not hear my declaration of love like a schoolboy as she walked past me (I saw the smirk though) and is married to Ben Affleck is neither here nor there. She is pretty and sweet looking. She could also kick my ass. Yes, I buy the black belt in karate from Alias bit.
She is also talented. But y’all knew that…
Imgaine my surprise when during the lunch break on the Arthur film set – after word of food being brought inside to Ms. Garner – out popped the Canadian beauty, much like she had done that morning - I missed that for trying to get a whole different pic.
I blinked and there was the vision standing right in front of me as I quickly attenmpted to walk backwards and snap away.
I don’t quite see her playing the love interest role in the same fashion Liza did all those years back. Liza is legend but she is – well… a tad bit over the top and hard to duplicate. So there is hope for this remake yet.
When Garner headed back into the set I couldn’t help but ask her for a wave and she complied – I’ll forgive the not looking part. Thank you kindly beauty – I knew you cared.
