Katie Holmes: Last of The Dead Accounts Matinee

Katie Holmes makes like its Bring Your Daughter to Work Day with a shrieking Suri Cruise as they head to the stage door of Dead Accounts.

Katie Holmes is having a rough time of late – professionally speaking.  Her return to the Broadway stage, in the  Theresa Rebeck drama ”Dead Accounts” was universally panned by critics – something that resulted in a kiss of death for the show – and will come to an abrupt end on January 6th.  Way harsh given that it was slated to run for a limited engagement to start with.  Its final curtain will drop on Sunday after only running a reported 27 previews and  a total of 44 performances.

OUCH!

On a side note…  You would think that the suits behind the the production would’ve stepped it up & persevered – if only to save face.  Or have fired their PR team cuz lets be frank – Holmes may not be Maggie Smith but she sure as hell comes with a whirlwind of media attention all her own.  Say nothing of the public’s fascination with the now ex-wife of that Scientology action star who appropriated the one time Dawson’s Creek child star.

Yet Homes keeps on keeping on.  And one must admire her for it.

Her marriage ends with more media coverage than should be allowed – but she keeps on keeping on.  Her returns to the big screen tank one after the other – yet she keeps on keeping on.

And so it goes.

One must also admire the way she goes about attempting to keep it real.

Girl has been spotted trawling the streets of NYC, at times daughter Suri Cruise in tow, and even hopping on the subway regularly   That’s brazen given that she has an army of paps on her tail…

This brings us to reflect on what we witnessed yesterday.

Holmes played out her very own Bring Your Daughter to What Remains of Your Work Days by bringing Suri to the Music Box Theater for her matinee performance on Wednesday and, of course, a whirlwind of attention pursued her.

This in and of itself is not of what we are about to gripe on – OH NO.

The young mommy-dearest’s SUV stops some 100 feet from the stage door and proceeds to exit the car in full view of a swarm of people – photographers included – awaiting her arrival to her call time.

She then proceeds to make like she is still keeping it real by putting Suri down and walking the remainder of the way to the stage door.

Now, do y’all need us to tell you that this didn’t fair well?

Between the series of Paps who followed her car and the Paps who ran to “get the shot” as she walked down the street, all hell broke out as “fans” scrambled to get a better look with their cellphones.

And what does Suri take to doing in the midst of mayhem?

Little drama queen let out a shrieking cry – all the while covering her face with her mitten-ed left hand – until Holmes stopped and picked her much-too old to be carried self and carried her the rest of the way – all the while she was still audibly crying.

This drama which played out rather quickly begs the question:

If you take your security packed SUV to work with your child, knowing you are being tailed and awaited by further Paps, why wouldn’t you let your driver pull up to stage door entrance that has been set up by theater security for your very arrival to make your exit?

Why further fuel an already roaring fire?

It would be one thing if Holmes had been alone and done so – a rather smart move it would’ve been as it maximizes exposure, keeps it real and everybody gets something.

But having a child with you prone to dramatics at the mere surfacing of chaos start shrieking when the inevitable happens is just a bad decision and one documented for the folks at Child Protective Services.

Tom Cruise: Divorcing Wife Number Three

Katie Holmes holds tightly onto her man at The Romantics special screening in NYC

After merely five years of marriage, the dynamic duo that is Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes – otherwise referred to as TomKat – is coming to an end.  That’s right y’all, D-I-V-O-R-C-E!  We know, we are as torn up about it as we were missing the YSL sale last season.

No justice, no peace!

People.com is exclusively reporting the news – although no word on the cause of the split is disclosed.  Ain’t that something?  The most important aspect of the news is completely omitted!  WTF?  Why bother releasing the info?

“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” Holmes’s attorney Jonathan Wolfe is quoted as stating.  Adding that  “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”

So presumably Holmes gets to keep Suri…  We don’t however know if  will get the apartment in Union Square…?

We don’t know about you but with news of an impending divorce, we can’t help but wonder what the cause might be.  Yes, Cruise is some fifteen years Holmes senior but papi still has it going on and we’d happily slip slide into her spot – were we to be asked – discretion assured.

Assuredly, and much like his previous divorce to Nicole Kidman, not much will come from the surprising split.  Cruise’s pre-nup for certain contains a confidentiality clause which will keep Holmes from any tell-tale interviews.  But speculation will arise never-the-less.

Damn skippy on us having a theory behind it already.  Like for instance, seeing in print makes us wonder…  the marriage is five years old yet Suri is a ripe old age of six… we wouldn’t be surprised at their marriage having been a result of Holmes being able to procure Mr. Control-Freak an off-spring.  Fertility clause as it were…

And on a separate note – Rock Of Ages is the worse movie EVER!  But Cruise did rock.

Lastly, you know how catty gays can be & there is already a mock-up of a fictitious Cruise Grindr ad.   No shame.

A Grindr ad depicting Tom Cruise likeness being circulated online post announcement of impending divorce from Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes: Afraid of The Dark Premiere

Katie Holmes attends the Dont Be Afraid of The Dark Q&A premiere

A waifish looking Katie Holmes popped over to the Walter Reade theater at Lincoln Center for a Q&A on her new film “Don’t Be Afraid of The Dark,” by Guillermo Del Toro.  Sadly, she wore black.  Gladly, her waifish tanned look only accentuated her statuesque frame.

Holmes was joined at the event by her co-star Bailee Madison – but no Guillermo.

And no Tom!  Although rumors swirled of his unannounced attendance.

The talk amidst the die-hard paps was one of his having visited his wife during the junket press event at a mid-town hotel and was observed leaving shortly after dusk – prior to her having to leave for the small event – security team in-tow.

The Romantics: Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise

Katie Holmes holds tightly onto her man at The Romantics special screening in NYC

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise powered up The Romantics – the movie screening, not the coupledom – last night as part of The Cinema Society’s endless roster of special film nights.

They never formally invite us common folk to cover but that don’t mean we ain’t showing up for it.  You know the saying, if life throws you lemons – add some Grey Goose to it and make a cocktail.

So when our ears got wind of the news we sailed on downtown and dutifully awaited Ms. Thing and our childhood wet dream.  (What can we say, Risky Business and All the Right Moves anyone…)

Little did we know that the likes of Elijah Wood, Adam Brody and the man with a body every (gay) man, woman and teen wants to straddle – Josh Duhamel, along with Malin Akerman, Jeremy Strong, Rebecca Lawrence and Sports Illustrated model Linda Vojtova would surface at the venue.

Not a bad turnout if you ask us.  We may have to change our sheets come tommorow morn, but it will be worth it…

The one let down – as you know there always has to be one – came with “True Bloods’” Rutina Wesley.  Girl arrived and decided to skip three quarters of the exterior photo opt and sailed into the theater leaving folks calling to appeal her snub.

Funny what happens when some folks find themselves in the midst of success and attention for the 1st time…  Girlfriend, it’s not forever and you are not Katie Holmes.

Katie Holmes: The Extra Man Prem

Katie Holmes at The Extra Man NYC Premiere at the Village East Cinema

It’s official!  My ass is back at the celebrity grind.  And appropriately enough, after a four-week hiatus, it comes to that of The Extra Man premiere.  Cosmic!  I say there should always be an extra homosapien – hell, make it two!

And that it co-stars the young and talented Paul Dano (fabulous Prada Shoes!), Kevin Kline, Rosemary Harris and non-other than Ms. Katie Holmes – who generously rearranged her current film schedule to attend the arrivals portion of the night – is stellar in my book.

I feel like she did that just to say “thank you for coming out so soon after your holidays ending.”  You are welcome, boo!

That it was also a whopping 95 degrees (that’s farenheit!) made it all the more pleasant.  I luv me some hot summer days.  Only drawback I see is having to have anything on – personally…

Also in attendance:  Phoebe Cates, Chris Riggi, Gisele, Nicole Trunfio, hot chocolate AJ Calloway, Sean Lennon, Stephanie Pratt and YaYa DaCosta.

Bradley Cooper: SoHo Fields Filming

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Bradley Cooper and Tomas Arana relocated “The Dark Fields” to yet another swanky NYC neighborhood, this time the trendy streets of SoHo made for backdrops as they geared up for yet another running chase scene.  And not too far from John Mayer’s humble abode…

I will give them that this time it was a bit more exitng to watch as there was an actual truck crash and fast taxi get-away.   And Cooper dressed in some tight jeans made for a nice view – that ass is something to watch…

The production team got a head start  and commenced filming early in the morning in attempts to beat the masses, but that didn’t last too long for the crowds started to gather as the day went on and once all the paps got wind of the exterior shots, an army of photographers arrived who had been waiting on Katie Holmes to exit her apartment.

The cast and crew appeared to take it all in stride and everyone got shots – especially since they were shooting well over four hours on the closed off streets.

The film will remain in NYC for at least another week and with their amenable disposition it should be a breeze to cover.
