Sarah Jessica Parker: The Women at I Dont Know How She Does It
Posted by Native NYker in christina hendricks, emma roberts, jessica Szohr, sarah jessica parker on September 13, 2011
NY princess Sarah Jessica Parker debuted her new flick “I Don’t Know How She Does It,” on Manhattan’s UWS last night. The small premiere drew crowds and a stellar list of A-listers including costars Christina Hendricks, Jessica Szohr, Pierce Brosnan and Greg Kinnear. So many folks in face we are breaking it up into the women and (stay tuned for it) the men! It just seems right to compartmentalized it dammit… So don’t quibble.
And this is primarily due to the fashion at hand. Without a doubt, even in basic black, SJP wins the best dressed category. Yes, ordinarily its just blase and hardly worth pressing the shutter, but damn if girl can’t serve basic black with a little sparkle while delivering a wow factor.
But the rest of the girls seemed ready and filed their nails for a row, ready to throw down in an effort to walk away with the honors.
Most notably: Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks, who, in a shimmery pink cocktail number, was a picture of retro glam. Of course the fact that her twins were perched front and center has a whole lot to do with her close proximity to couture goddess SJP. That’s presentation!
Olivia Munn, in a demure yet elegant red off-the-shoulder number was close to stepping on Hendricks and knocking her of the runner-up slot position.
What can we tell y’all, we love a lady in red.
And that is why Emma Roberts (who showed up with our future ex-husband, yet wouldn’t pose together) what is that all about?) The photo has already been shot and published!) places in a decent 4th place. Her red off-the-shoulder evening gown came across light and summery. But girl, get some color! Spray it on, lamp it or use a cream if the sun is too much…
Now, we ain’t playing faves or nothing but ex-Gossip Girl alum Jessica Szohr places in a class all by herself. The one time douty duckling has spread her wings and swan can now effectively work her look in any ensemble you throw at her and we love her all the more for it! Additional kudos go to the new do & the new svelte figure. Work it out beauty!
Jordan Sparks surprised the hell out of us some. So much so we had to ask who she was… Girl shot upwards and shed the baby fat. Fab. We even forgive the lack of directional attention being screamed her way being ignored. (When you hear ‘your right’ it doesn’t mean left dear…)
Scribe Jackie Collins put her best jewels to work for the short step and repeat & we appreciate it wholeheartedly. It’s like she borrowed them right out of one of her heroines vault or something…
And the WTF was she thinking – as you know there is always one – goes to: Sofia Bush! That is the only possible way to address this god-awful number really. Girl surfaced clad in a gold lame short set circa 1983. You know the one like folks wore to the roller-disco. Wrong, girl! Just wrong. If you can’t go fully over the top, don’t go at all. It’s just plain lazy!

Gwyneth Paltrow in a black sequined one-shouldered strap Michael Kors gown at the 2010 CFDA Fashion Awards in NYC
The annual fete known as the CFDA Fashion Awards are 2nd only to one other fashion event in NYC. We wont mention it at this juncture – surely you know of what we speak, if you are in know. And if you aren’t then there ain’t no point in discussing it anyway, so we’ll just move along…
The event gets a long list of beauties in attendance – from all the nominees who it looks to celebrate, to the perfect catwalk bodies who bi-annually strut the frocks on runways worldwide onto the luminaries who deliver their perfectly stitched message to the masses on red carpets coverage. The night is all about acknowledging fashion, sweety.
This years event, once again held at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, could easily go down as one of its all time greatest – ever.
Major highlights of major frock wearers on the guest list: Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Weisz, Jessica Biel, Dakota Fanning, Hilary Rhoda, Brooke Shields, Whitney Port, Iman, The Olsen Twins, Molly Sims, Carmen Kaas, Maggie Grace, Emilie de Ravin, Dree Hemingway, Devon Aoki wearing Zac Posen and a Mickael Kors clad Gwyneth Paltrow - who all respectively que’ed for a drive by on the step-and-repeat.
And all looked A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
So here’s to all the nominees – whoever you all were; the winners – you are all winners in RTnM’s book, and of course fashion patrons everywhere!
Matthew Broderick: Wonderful World
Posted by Native NYker in matthew broderick, sarah jessica parker on January 9, 2010
When a tip sheet list one name generally associated as the other half of a more famous couple, the general assumption is that the duo will be in supportive attendance – together, if only for appearance sake.
Case and point? Matthew Broderick – husband to the woman most commonly associated with all things sex and fashion – Sarah Jessica Parker! You know her, the one time “Square Pegs” costar who sucked the fame right out of Ferris Bueller. Some have even argued that he should’ve shacked up permanently with Harvey! (If you don’t know who I am talkin about google it dammit!)
So When Broderick arrived and his car was flanked by awaiting fanatics but no SJP materialized, you can imagine the level of discontent along the stop-and-repeat gathered at the DGA Theatre on Sunset Blvd for the “Wonderful World” premiere. Myself included! Don’t get me wrong, I love Matt but I have to pay Nieman Marcus card goddammit!
But like my people before me, I endured, turned a cheek and snapped a photo while counting the blessing for the low level of crazy.
Grant and SJP: Morgans NY Prem

On an unusually warmish December night the NY “Did You Hear About the Morgans” premiere got under way at the Ziegfeld Theater in midtown after much fanfare.
This being a Sarah Jessica Parker (and Hugh Grant) flick, the photo brigade came out in full force. Some 60+ in total. Of course this was largely due to SJP being associated as a fashionista.
But apparantly the stylist portion of her brain went on holiday. (More like Patricia Field wasn’t hired on this film so she wasn’t doing the duty.) Cuz girl showed up wearing basic black. Fashionable? Yes. Sellable? Not really. Just imagine the deafening grunts of disappointment. The sighs ran the entire photo stop and repeat area.
But what can you do… Even diva’s need a moment to keep it simple and dress it down – I reckon.
As for me, Hugh Grant smiling my way eased the disappointment of his costar lackluster ensemble choice. But I’m easy…
The film opens in theaters on December 18th.
